Flinders tidal pools performing unauthorised chemistry experiments. Iron oxide staining limestone in patterns that look intentional but aren’t. Green algae colonising surfaces nobody owns, repainting themselves with each tide. Geological processes converted to wall art without permission from the rocks. Victorian Ash shadowbox frame, 310gsm Cotton Rag, Epson Ultra-chrome Pro inks, museum-grade plexiglass.
These rocks didn’t ask to be photographed. They’ve been arranging themselves in tidal pools for millennia without permission from tourism boards or Instagram influencers. Iron oxide staining limestone in patterns that look intentional but aren’t.
Green algae colonising surfaces nobody owns. Erosion as accidental art installation. Each tide repainting the composition using saltwater and time instead of brushes. Geological time operating without heritage listings or postcodes.
I captured this from above without asking the rocks or the algae or the tidal pools putting on colour shows for an audience of crabs. Now it’s dry-mounted to 5mm acid-free foam using archival adhesive, housed in hand-sanded Victorian Ash shadowbox frames. 310gsm Cotton Rag prints made with Epson Ultra-chrome Pro inks on a P20070. Protected by museum-grade plexiglass.
Technical specificity the rocks never requested but collectors paying attention appreciate. Geological processes converted to wall art without permission from the formations themselves.
